it's only a month out. Any news? current line-up? anticipated game changes? 2 day format details? Anything? do I need to buy some shades or just take some drugs and go with it?

I'll bring the jumbo tub of Purell. We can soak in it between matches.

they always keep the game changes really quiet. i don't expect more than one will be swapped out though. i haven't seen ewoud or larry to ask about the two-day format, but something tells me that "qualifying" just means cutting it down to 32 people for sunday. keeping track of 120+ people qualifying on 16 pins with no computer? riiiiiiiight...

Rom, I am under the assumption that it will be played out heads up best of 3 until enough people have been knocked out leaving 32 left. It would be very very nice if they had it posted somewhere so you knew that say...you won your first 5 games and you were in the top 32 you knew so you could leave and not just wait there for the next 6 hours waiting to be called to play and later finding out you weren't going to be playing again that night.

Yeah, they are saying 1-7 on Saturday. I find it hard to believe that it will be down to 32 people after 6 hours if they are playing best of 3. Maybe though. At the GK tourney it took about 8 hours to get down to the final 32, and we had twice as many machines. Regardless, it took another 6 hours to get a winner, so I definitely think the 2 day format will be a LOT better. I mean seriously, it's just too hard to hang out in a bar and not drink for 14 hours straight!

the owner and tournament administrator have been MIA for awhile so i haven't had a chance to ask. the bartenders, even the ones who are also pinball techs, don't have the story either. my expectation is that will run until at least midnight on saturday no matter what they say. must pace myself with the drinking to avoid a repeat of last year!

STTNG and IJ4 have been shopped in the last few days, so at least that's underway. i'm playing hooky today so i'll check things out and provide a report in that forum at the bottom that i like to hang out in by myself.

Is anyone planning on heading up Friday morning early afternoon?

Also, this will mark the 1 year anniversary of competitive pinball for a lot of us (and they say men can't remember dates) so let's show them what we have been up to for the past 11+ months and give them hell up there!

My "anniversary" of competitive pinball playing isn't till April, but I'll (hopefully) add to the fire of Portlands Pinball Inferno.

I'm leaving Friday at 1. I have 2 spots in my car left for the trip up. Any body wanting a ride should call me and let me know.
