2011 Tourneys

So we are starting to get to many places with 4+ machines and not enough weeks in the year to run 4 tournaments at each so let's put it to a vote. Of course Billy Ray's, C-Bar, Clinton Street, Ship Ahoy, Slabtown and The Standard are going to be locks. That leaves 7 spots open, so let's vote. Keep in mind all 4 tournaments will be played there if the given spot wins, unless it is a horrible experience there or we run out of time at the end of the year.

So I took the top 4 places out and there are now locked in for next year. Ground Kontrol, BOG, Shanghai and Slingshot are all in. The rest we re-vote for the final 3 spots. 3 spots means 3 votes, once again you can change your vote if you change your mind.

BSD, TOM, Ripleys and Iron Man is a good lineup and i generally hate sterns. If it were IJ4 and LOTR, I'd be right there with ya. But IM and Ripleys are both pretty drainy, so it should go quickly . . . and yes they have awesome beer!!! Regarding the mirrors . .. I think we should do a whole tournament where you can't look down!

I think you both have good boints. And I'd like to add that cashbox does operate in a bunch of places in town, and maybe I'm being overly optimistic here: but I think it's good to not totally give up on an operator, and to support them and be like, "hey dude, we WANT to play your machines, but only if they're in good condition, so.... keep them up for us and we'll keep giving you our quarters." I think abandoning him would give him even more incentive to not keep up the machines.

That's not a bad line-up or bad boints. I think the biggest concern with that place is space. Especially if we aren't the only ones there. Maybe it's a place we only do tourneys in the summer so we can be outside and not fill the entire bar.

Having the operators on the PPM is good, but is there any way you could make that a hyperlink so when I click on it a service technician will be instantaneously teleported to my location? :P

@slamKGB I don't remember why we added that! I must have thought it up in one my amazingly smart dreams

We're still working on ways to utilize that information better - like, to make it more complete, and to have the operator contact info posted somewhere on the site... I'll work on being more pro-active about getting this done. And yeah, we should probably add that info to the apps somehow, too. PEACE!

Does Plan B just not work? I really like that place.

There ya go Sauce. Plan B has replaced Portsmouth Pizza. I like Plan B too but sometimes with the music it doesn't work. I can talk to Heather ahead of time and schedule around it though. Also,Joel (formerly of the Lutz) is working there 1 night a week now, hopefully a Tues/Thurs! So, with that feel free to change your votes around if you would like. Also, it seems Hawthorne Theater is not receiving the votes either so if anyone would like to nominate a different place feel free.

I give you guys a chance to give Plan B a trial run. I'm gonna throw the Avatar GC Tourney there.

I've been digging playing at Red Flag recently. (TAF, DW, LOTR & MM)

There's a bit of a glare from the TV, but they're usually playing baseball and no one is watching and they don't seem to mind if you turn it off.

I'm with Isaac. Red Flag is fun. I can talk to Danny (the owner) about whatever changes need to happen. He got a fourth machine in hopes of getting the tourneys in there.

I dig Red Flag a lot, if we could nominate it instead of Hawthorne. And I'm willing to give Plan B a chance if Joel's working and Qdub keeps the machines awesome. Hm, gonna have to restructure my votes...

Uh, so I replaced Hawthorne with Red Flag (take that, Dropshot!). It's kind of weird when you do that, though, because it gives those two votes for Hawthorne to Red Flag.

Anyway, I'm going to reshnizzle my nizzle.

How is the space at Red Flag? Space is my #1 concern anywhere we have a tournament. It concerns me when places like Apex and BOG get more votes than Vern and Slingshot where there is soooo much space. I switched Hawthorne with Red Flag.

Oh, we must have done that at the exact same time. Space at Red Flag is OFF THE HOOK. There's tons of room.

And Vern kind of doesn't have a lot of space. Not where it counts, at least. Those two machines on the right are in a tight spot - and people are always squeezing by you to go smoke outside.

That is true, but there is enough space there to have 25+ people get a drink in comfort. It makes it a lot easier to call of matches. BOG is a pain, it's loud, people are outside in 2 different areas, same thing with Shanghai sucks to have to go upstairs to get people.

Yes, Red Flag is good, but they need to move that TV!!!!! I mean, the glare from that thing is totally ridiculous. Obviously, you could turn it off, but seriously, just move it.

Oh yeah, Red Flag on 26th or whatever. Who runs those machines? I know the last time I was there TAF was in a weird place and off, and there were other problems. Isn't there a skylight issue too?
