If you got to this page from the pinball rankings calender page this is last year's information. Most of it will be the same however the date has been moved to February 18-20 this year. Once the new page/info has been released the calender link will lead you there. Feel free to browse here to get a better understanding of the event.

Thanks

Aaron

Do you have to be there all three days? Can you just qualify on Sat?

It's a Casual Flow tournament!

You can skip Friday and play your games on Saturday. But if you qualify for the open, then you'll have to be there on Sunday. It's basically like, "who's got what by Saturday at midnight."

Hungry for some competition? It's been how many hours? :D

We're putting our noggins together very soon, so expect more details to follow shortly. I think it's safe to say that it'll be fairly similar to last years format (NW format basically) with some mods.

1 ticket=1 game

1 ticket- $3
4 tickets- $10

Coin drop will be paid from funds once again.

Scoring will be based off a 50pt system per machine.

1 50pt
2 45pt
3 42pt
4 40pt
5 39pt

and so forth...

Finals format

Open
1,8,9,16
2,7,10,15
3,6,11,14
4,5,12,13

Classics
1,4,5,8
2,3,6,7

3 games matches

1=4pts 2=2pts 3=1pt 4=0pts

Fields cut in half after each round until there are 4 (final round)

Payouts:

Open Tournament
1 30% (remaining Open prize pool fund)
2 18%
3 12%
4 8%
5-8 4%
9-16 2%

Classic Tournament
1 38% (remaining Classic prize pool fund)
2 22%
3 14%
4 10%
5-8 4%

Open top qualifier $50
Open top female qualifier $50
Classic top qualifier $25

(okay I know, I see it too. Winning the classic could potentially earn you more money than winning the open. I doubt it will happen, but if it does, good for you! We can't just set a payout price in case we don't bring that in from classics and we don't want to have to take from the Open fund. Each tournament fund will be kept separate and the % is only taken from each owns funds.)

Open Tournament Machines:
TBA soon!

Classics Tournament Machines:
Frontier
Royal Flush ('76)
Aces and Kings
Seawitch

A more detailed/official version of the rules/format will released soon. Everything above is unofficial and is subject to change. (until this sentence is removed)

Just a heads up...it looks like the classics is going to become an EM only and Seawitch/Frontier may make it into the open. It isn't final but it just may happen. If it becomes an EM only the likely additions would be Solar City and Surf Champ. Also, not final, just an early heads up to anyone and everyone.

The plan is for 6 in open - 4 in classics. This is subject to change, as we're working it out with Ricochet and Quality and folks bringing games. We know we want a different lineup from both last years showdown and smackdown. Having operators change things around is great, but there is a limit to what's realistic for them to do. Just need to work out the logistics (enough space for all the games in and out of the tourney, power etc).

If you post something on the CFF blog we can plug it on the PPM facebook page. Have you thought about doing a facebook event page anyway?

Okay so here are a few things...

The open tournament is going to be played on the front stage (where some machines currently are)

The classics tournament is going to be played on the side stage (band stage)

The adjacent 'green room' will probably have a high score win the cash box casual flow tournament

There will also be 5 or 6 pinball games as well as other games in the back room for anyone to play.

We feel this set-up will be ideal (last years tourney was in the back room) to hold both tournaments and keep them in the same room as well as near by the bar and front windows for prime viewing and playing.

Also, recently brought up on RGP2 was the discussion of directors/machine providers playing in tournaments. Well, we feel that without everyone's help that most tournaments wouldn't happen. We are having a few home machines used in both the open and classics. However, no 1 person will have more than 1 game in each bank. We will also be listing who owns what games. We encourage participation from any and all who want to play. If you feel this is completely unfair please feel free to express your views to me personally. However, this will not change and if you are so adamantly against it, you can opt not to participate, we will miss you.

With that said I have a few line-up changes to mention.

Open:

Seawitch (Jake McGhee)
Frontier (Noah Davis)
Whirlwind (Ricochet)
Demolition Man (Ricochet)
The Simpson's Pinball Party (Quality Entertainment)

We are currently still figuring out what the 6th machine will be. As soon as we know, you will too!

Classics:

Aces and Kings (Dennis Brenhaug)
Royal Flush (Jake McGhee)
Solar City (Ricochet)

We are currently still deciding on the 4th machine. As soon as we know....

Volunteer sign-up has been closed. Thank you to all that are helping. Much appreciated!

I think that is all for now, sorry if this is all repeat info to you. Looking forward to it!

It looks like Terminator 2 (Ricochet) is going to be added to the open line-up.
