Portland Pinbrawl 2010 – Sunday April 18

Pre-registration is now open! To jump directly to pre-registration go
to http://groundkontrol.com/wordpress/?cat=12

On Sunday, April 18th, the finest pinball players in the Pacific
Northwest will once again gather in historic Old Town for Portland
Pinbrawl 2010, Ground Kontrol’s second annual pinball tournament. Join
your fellow Portland ‘ballers to battle the best of the Northwest for
the grand prize: a full-sized Williams’ “Johnny Mnemonic” pinball
machine. As an added perk, Ground Kontrol will extend its beer and
wine serving hours to cover the entire day of the tournament.

Ground Kontrol’s inaugural Portland Pinbrawl tournament in April 2009
drew over 120 players, some traveling from as far as Canada to
compete. A packed house is expected for Portland Pinbrawl 2010, and
registration is capped at 128 players.

Portland Pinbrawl 2010 will also feature “side stage” tournaments with
highly challenging rules including one-handed play, and “split
flipper” play – where 2 players each control one side of the pinball
playfield!

Competition signup fee is $20 per person; spectators get in for free.
Doors open at 10:00am, Sunday April 18th. Admission is limited to 21
and over with valid ID for competitors and spectators alike. This
tournament is brought to you by Aaron Nelson, Eric Hill, Fred Franken
and Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade.

Pre-registration for Portland Pinbrawl 2010 is highly recommended and
will be available starting February 18th. Discounted room rates for
participants are also being offered at Jupiter Hotel and Ace Hotel.

No stools? Then how will I "Stand up and Fight" on BK2K? You have to be sitting down before you can stand up..

Myself, Eric, and Fred would like to thank everyone for their suggestions after last year. We have re-read through them all and along with our own observations will try our best to make this year even better. Thanks for the help and looking forward to do it all again!

For those interested or noticed the link above has changed well it has. Everything has stayed the same only we have added a list of those that have registered already. Once registered give us a day or so to update the list. Great way to confirm your registration, see which friends or enemies will be there, or just size up the competition.

One thing I have noticed when I play at Ground Kontrol during the day is that those sky lights (or windows in the ceiling) create a pretty distracting glare on the machines right underneath them. For instance, The Shadow. Is there anything that can be done about that for the tournament?

I love the signup list. There are quite a few recognizable names that have already jumped on the registration.

Stupid question - Is this the Bally Viking from 1979? Is someone bringing one to the tournament?

yes, it will be on the stage with Dr. Who and Johny Mnemonic as well. Dr. Who (the spot upstairs) is being replaced with BK2K. Pre-reg has hit 43, that means 1/3 full. So hurry up and secure your spot!

I remember that the CFF street team was hustling their gear at the last GK tourney & thought you could use a fresh idea:

Pants. Like this:

I think they would be slightly more intimidating than a catburger t-shirt...

Those that are not pre-registered, the number is creeping up quickly. We are currently at 52. Be sure to register before it is too late.
