Dropshot, I don't really understand what you're saying.
Like any expo, you have to pay to get in. And you have to pay for entrance to the tourney. The only unusual thing here seems to be that you have to pay for each game in it...

But this expo is a lot more than a torunament. So whatever.

Initially the museum wanted 40% of all tournament money. They were able to talk them down to 25% but with every 1st entry was a $5 fee. And then you had to buy your 'game' tickets. If there wasn't the initial $5 fee the museum will be taking $5 for every player entry. Also I think the daily entry into the event was higher than normal. Do you have to do your own coin drop? The person who made all the trophies got nothing in compensation. Basically from what I heard the museum was just being unreasonable and trying to make money from the event. So all I was asking is how is it going? Nobody has even posted who is winning so far, what the fuck?

They don't have a cool projector with the scores. So, dunno who's in the lead.

You don't have to put in quarters. The $5 entry fee can either be a "donation" to the museum, or you can get raffle tickets.

The superstars are playing in the expert division, but many of us are sticking to novice.

No future spa :( nor bonzai run.

I think the way the tournament works is the top 5 scores on each machine move on to the finals. The #5 score on CFTBL is 653 Mil, FT is 611 Mil. Many SUPER later nights in my brother in laws garage on those machines, and I've never come close to either of those scores. The high score on the tournament FT was 3+ Billion!!!

Great show though. ROM, Miles, DDT and I played a bunch of games together today. Jeri and Chris Rhodes were in on a few. DDT put up a few CFF's. He had a crowd watching him get LITZ (5?? million on the LITZ alone). DDT and I played a game of Getaway and got the #1 and GC on it. Hopefully they'll be a few more CFF's and NOA's in our wake before the end of the show tomorrow.

There's only 6-8 people playing in the expert division (maybe not true). And like noah said, the qualifying scores were beyond what I've attained during regular play. Novice is where the fun is!

I just lost to rhodes on sopranos. So he's in the final 4...

We watched some of the semi final rounds was of the expert tournament and it was incredible. I saw Neil Shatz hit 4 or 5 Super Jackpots on Creature in a single multiball. I think his score was somewhere in the 900 millions when he was done. Insane. Cayle put up some really mean scores too. I think he was in the 400 millions on that same game. Show was really great - will be going next year for sure.

Yes, he did.

I was wrong about Rhodes making it to the final four in novice. I think he lost after beating me. That win would have gotten him into final four. Pretty decent payouts for the novice players. Julie Gray got 2nd, I believe ($240....? something around there).

Oh yeah, I only spent $10 in my qualifying play... woohoo.

I didn't watch the expert finals. But Noah and I watched some matches leading up to it.

Basically, we'd be cruising around, playing games and having fun, and then once in a while check up on the tournament, and be like, "oh yeah, this." It can be interesting to watch and all - but it's super slow and serious. More fun to play all the other games.

Yeah - everything that he said. I must have played 20 games each of Pharoah and Firepower. You'd think that 3, 8-10 hour days in a row of pinball might be too much . . . with 400 games to play . . . it's not.
