Vegas Pin Masters Sept. 25-27

Postby Dropshot on Tue Aug 04, 2009 8:50 am

At the Minnesota State Fair this year they are having around 30 games or so. The dates are Aug. 27- Sept. 7. I am pretty sure they are having a RGP night and I have been in contact with them about throwing a tournament one of the nights as well. It seems at least a handful of them seem interested. Anyway I plan on going back for 2 days to go check it out. If it interests anyone else let me know and I can arrange for a place to stay.

Vegas Pin Masters Sept. 25-27

Postby Dropshot on Wed Aug 05, 2009 5:22 pm

so I was thinking fuck spending $300 to go to MN when I could just spend $150-200 and go to Vegas at the end of September and play in the Pin Masters at the Pin HoF. The entry is $100 and you can pre-register without paying anything, only room for 64 and there are currently 38. All the big names including a lot of west coast players. There is more info at http://www.ifpapinball.com/?page_id=186 so if anyone is interested in this let me know, I plan to buy a ticket within the next few weeks. I haven't seen the Hangover but I'm sure nothing could go wrong if 4 or 5 of us went down and got a nice suite to hang out in while not destroying our bodies and mind with sin.

This isn't a problem with tungsten bulbs because the filament remains red hot for a short duration after voltage is removed - long enough to appear lit persistently.

Man - that sounds awesome. I wanna play pinball with Roger Sharpe!!! It's the weekend before Pacific Pinball Expo, which Emma and I are going to so I can't go. They've lined up about 400 machines this year, which would make it the biggest show in the country.

Have fun playing Pinball Circus - it's a one trick pony, but pretty cool nonetheless.

On the pingolf tip - our new house has a drive in garage where my pins will be setup - easy to load in and out so I could bring a few.

Yeah, it looks like you can fly for around $200. I'm going to see if my sister can hook up a deal on a hotel room.

That would be nice...I think more importantly though is that we are close to the event. I'd rather be able to walk to the HoF and have to take cab to the main strip than vice versa.

Well, I just looked and I think she can get a discount at this planet hollywood (lame) which is pretty close. 3663 Las Vegas Blvd S
Las Vegas, NV 89109-1920 The event is definitely close enough to the south strip that we could stay down there and walk. Here's the location of the machines 3330 E. Tropicana Las Vegas, NV

I would Not recommend staying at a shit hotel off the strip near the PHOF. The PHOF is 3 miles off the strip, a very hot long walk. Its like a $2 bus ride from the corner of las vegas blvd and tropicana by the MGM.

Stay in a fun hotel, there will be a lot of down time from the competition and youll want to do other fun stuff, not sit in a crackhead hotel :)

I still intend to go, but plane tickets have jumped up in price from a week ago. The cheapest roundtrip direct flight I could find is $350. Let me know if anyone finds a better price.

Damn. I'm amazed at how much prices rise in spite of economic recession. My flights last month were hugely overpriced and the service was hideous. Supposedly there is a trick to Priceline where there is a tiny indicator that lets you know if it will be accepted or not. I've been looking into flights for PPE and they are 350 plus. There must be a way.
