Stern AC/DC Pinball release party 2/15/12

Postby Qdub on Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:45 am

Stern's AC/DC release party is being held Wednesday February 15th at The Good Foot. There will be two Pins. One pay to play for practice, and one set to free play for the tournament. I have been assured that this will be the only release party in town. Doors open at 5, and qualifying begins at 6. Cut off time will be at 9.

$5 entry gets you one chance to put up your best score. 5-8 will have a one game playoff and 1-4 will have a one game playoff for final standings. Depending on how many entries we get, we might nix the 5-8. Let try and not let that happen though.

See you there.

My guess is there will be 20+ for this.

This week is going to be a very busy week!

It is interesting that Seattle is having their release party on the 17th.

Not sure how I feel about that.

A) Players will skip it just come down here and play all weekend

B) Players will go to it and come down the next day/later that evening

C) That makes 2 things IFPA has set up to screw Showdown (IFPA registration date on the 19th and a Seattle release the opening day of our biggest tournament)

The IFPA registration date on the 19th is actually good for you Dropshot so you can take your winnings and then sign up.

For the 150 on the initial list you must be paid by Feb 19th or you are no longer eligible. It would be nice if it were after Showdown so people could potentially win some money and then pay their entry. Or maybe lose all their money and not be able to afford to go...but at least that way the money would be lost at Showdown where the prize pool growth is a bit more limited than IFPA considering all 64 spots will be filled one way or another.

Out of curiosity, I asked Josh about IFPA's involvement with the launch dates. It is zero involvement. It is all set up by Stern. So, you only have one thing to be mad at IFPA about. :)

I think Seattle moved theirs to the 18th. It is at Dorky's right? Their Fbook says the 18th.

The official Seattle area launch party is the 17th at Dorky's in Tacoma. 2 of the games will then go to the Seattle Pinball Museum and stay there for about a week. Charlie at SPM is having his own little party/tournament on the 18th. No wpprs at the SPM one, just prizes/swag.

I don't know anyone who is doing the launch party/parties instead of Portland. I think the Gagnos, possibly others are planning to do the launch on their way down to PDX.
