Possible Eugene Tournament

We were thinking about running a tournament down here in Eugene at the Blairally arcade. It would be one day, either Saturday, January 21 or Sunday, January 22. (After January the major tournament schedule is pretty full.)

I was thinking of running a standard bracket, double elimination tournament like Pinbrawl or Shorty's. Noah also suggested that I run it like Cascadia Cup.

I would like this to be a unique IFPA event and it would make it (more) worth my time if some people came from out of town.

If you think you'd come to the tournament, please post whether you'd prefer Pinbrawl style or Cascadia style AND whether you'd prefer Saturday 21st or Sunday 22nd.

Thanks,
Hayden

You can vote twice (one for each) and can change your vote if you would like.

Cascadia (casual flow). More guaranteed pinball for your dollar - i think is a better chance of out of towners coming if they know they're guaranteed a whole day of play. They have to plan ahead so paying in advance shouldn't deter any of them. Plus the buy in can be a little more and you can pay out a little further if you want. Cuz you can sell it as an all day thing. Also, less work for you once you've set it up.

Downside is no "day of" sign ups and more legwork up front.

I'd be curious to what others say. I guess I'd prefer Saturday.

I guess this post is kinda repetative, cuz you already had my vote - oh well. I'll try and come regardless of format - wanna play some of the new titles!

Yeah, standard way kinda sucks if we come down and loose early and then promised to give Noah a ride home. But then just fucking leave him behind.

Ha.

Either day is probably fine w/ me...

Cascadia style is my vote. Is it a vote?

I will definitely come down.

Pinbrawl style would be cool too.

You should just make a poll. If you would like me to do it for you just let me know what you would like on it.

an example poll would be

Casual Flow Style
Head to Head
brand new super exciting never done before tournament (one where dannyb doesn't flip shit)

Saturday
Sunday

(2 votes, vote for one of each)

Any idea what the pins in the tournament will be?

Thw buy in? Are we going roll of goldies, to get all the out of towners in for a pay day? Will there be a lower bracket for less experienced players....I'm just talking about me.

I vote Casual...if that means I get more chances to redeem myself, & Saturday!

Okay, I don't think this is going to happen.

It looks like the arcade will be fully functioning again by February. I had been hoping things would be set up by mid-January but right now I don't think it's going to happen. I don't want to be a week out and realize there are no bathrooms.

Sorry to get your hopes up.

I'll keep an eye May. It looks like that month is open.

March could also be good. Sure Pinburgh is happening at the end of the month, but I think only 3 or 4 people from portland are going. Would be nice for us stuck here to have an alternative!
