The venue has also changed. Showdown will be held at Slingshot Lounge this year. We are all very excited about the change of venue and look forward to the many new improvements we have added to the tournament.

Showdown is an HERB style tournament with an open division consisting on 6 machines and a classics with 4 machines. Top 16 from open will make the finals and top 12 from classics will make the finals.

More details will be released as we hammer them out.

Why the change of location?

Love the poster. Any idea on the lineup/entry costs yet? I was bummed I couldn't make it to Cascadia Cup, going to try and make it back to Portland for this.

Just like last year tickets will be 4/$10.

As of right now I believe the line is:

Hey, guys, I plan to make it back [and finish higher this time!]. What's the best-guess timeline each day this year, and what's a good place to stay near the new location?

Hey Bob,

Dropshot can correct me if I'm off by a few hours, but I believe it'll be Friday/Saturday noon to midnight and Sunday noon to 5 or whenever finals are finished.

Again consider these estimates. Not sure about hotels . . .

Close but we are changing them a bit this year.

Hours:

Friday 11am - 2am
Saturday 11am - 12am
Sunday 11am (classic finals, open to follow)

That's an extra 7 hours of qualifying from last year.

Hotels:

The bar is located in SE Portland roughly at Foster and Holgate. There are a ton of hotels around but I cannot really vouch for any. 82nd ave where most can be found is a little bit known for the ladies of the night, so I really do not know which ones would be good or not. There is a Motel 6 on Powell and 33rd (5 minutes away). Portland is also a small enough town that if you got a hotel at the airport, downtown or at the Lloyd Center it would take 10-15 minutes to get to and from the event. Anything else in SE would take 5-7 minutes.

Like Aaron said, Portland's small enough that if you liked where you stayed last time I'd just recommend staying there again. Even though it's on the complete opposite side of town, the Slingshot Lounge is only about a 15-20 drive from Slabtown. If you don't mind staying by the airport, you could probably find a good rate around there. My folks usually stay up there when they come to visit and it's only a 15 drive to Slingshot or just about anywhere else you're likely to visit.

Unless you like paying by the hour, I'd definitely steer clear of 82nd around around where the Slingshot is (Foster, Powell, etc.), though there are a few hotels on 82nd north of Columbia (ie by the airport) that are just fine.

The Powell Motel 6 isn't terrible. It also isn't beautiful.

Its very cheap though and extremely close to the venue if you plan on imbibing a bit and wanna a quick jaunt to your bed.

Good to know about the decent spots that are close in case anyone is flying in but not planning on renting a car.

also, lots of strippers live at, and work close to, that motel six. for my money you cant beat the 6 dollar ribeye at the safari... best strip club steak in town.

The Motel 6 is also two doors down from Hopworks and a few blocks from the Ship Ahoy and C-Bar. Not sure I'd consider it walking distance from the Slingshot, though definitely a cheap cab ride.

For those that don't know about Ship Ahoy and C-Bar, they have a combined 19? machines and are right across the street from each other. There are also a lot of home machines within a few block radius as well.

There is a rumor floating around that Volley will be the 4th classics machine...
