What a fun event! Thanks everyone for putting that on, and the uh, special accommodations, made for me and my under-21-hood. I had a lot of fun, and really, really enjoyed the "new group of 4 every time" aspect. The best 3 out of 5 head to head was the most intense match of pinball I've ever played... Thanks again! :D

Good to see ya'll.

F HIGH SPEED!!!!

5 game, 4 person finals was awesome. If time constraints aren't an issue, I think it's the new best way to do it Great to see Bobby make it in.

How the hell does MWM crush an unbeatable first ball?

I just ran into MWM at Green Dragon, he told me "your score and your game is weak."

He'd have been toast if we were on a REAL machine like Dark Knight or Avatar.

Ha, yeah those were my exact words about Opto ;) That tourny was non-stop fun start to finish, finals format tweaking from last years CC was right on the money. Opto's intimidation factor was off the charts after posting that big 1st player/1st ball T2 score for us to stare at thinking... how the hell are we gonna beat that?!? It appeared everyone was having a good time and chalk up another dialed tournament/format thanks to Dropshot & Fred. Good turn-out of solid players from north and south. Looking forward to next years CC!

MWM

Thanks for running this and especially for accepting my last-minute entry! I had a great time again this year and can't believe I almost missed it. It was probably obvious but it was my first time making it into the finals of a major tournament, and needless to say I was completely intimidated. Playing against one of you three would freak me out, much less all three. But it was actually just a whole lot of fun, and I'm glad I managed to at least accomplish my goal of not getting last place on every game. The only game that has really haunted me is High Speed. What a complete ball-drop.

We might need to steal this tournament format for one up in Seattle, since it really is the most fun style that I've played!

If Seattle stole this idea for a tourney I would definately consider making the trip. PDX could beat Seattle on their home turf. :D

Cascadia cup in Seattle area next year (NOT SHORTY'S)! Seems only fair for this to be played all over the Cascadia region right!

Your in charge Bobby ;)

I would love to actual build a Cascadia Cup for next year. Hold me to that.

Hey, so I've been trying to come up with formulas and make a program to put out a bracket, but I'm stumped. How did you make it so each person played a different game each time, usually with different people?

Simple math. It's basically 4 latin squares rotated 90 degrees. Fred can give you more info. You need 1 machine for every 4 players.

Yes, more details would be amazing. I'm just not seeing how you can get different groups of four with nobody playing on the same machine more than once...

4 latin squares each rotated 90 degrees, one right below the next. Then substitute the numbers for machines.

I'll be honest, I had almost no idea what you were saying, but I did some research on what a latin square was and found an easy way to make one and remembered how that board looked at the tourney, and I figured it out now. Thanks :D
