If you're on the fence, think about Capt. Fantastic. The Capt. Fantastic in The Northwest Oh-Pin might be the nicest one you'll ever see.

It's a HUO machine and truly a sight to behold. Simply amazing!

If I am going to make this I will probably need a ride. I will know more later today though if it's even a possibility.

Looks great. Did Aztec and Strikes and Spares get axed?

Yes, the original list of eight machines were not the final machines. We voted on the final 6 and Aztec and Strikes and Spares lost.

However, Strikes and Spares is in the arcade along with Eight Ball, Space Mission, ST:TNG, and maybe Time Machine....and Donkey Kong, Pole Position, Centipede, and a couple of other. You can take a break from the tournament and play Strikes and Spares.

Also, expect the building to get HOT. It's an old warehouse with no air conditioning.

You might want to pack your speedo to play in.

excited for this! I'm pretty broke so we'll probably spend most of the day just walking around town. Any suggestions from the locals on fun things to do that are cheap or free?

The tournament is being held to coincide with the Whiteaker Block Party: http://www.facebook.com/whiteakerblockparty

That could be fun.

Let me guess CFF won? hmm a trend perhaps.
Congrats Opto, and to all the other CFF members who took the time to get off your lazy asses and put the show on the road.
Maybe we can put up a bunch of ads for day1 mylar Ballys on the San Diego CL and get Elwin to miss his flight. Then take Pittsburgh.
P.S. If anyone has a D1 Frontier with a perfect backglass, I'm interested.

I'm really tired and have a migraine. However, what I remember is that we took the top 12 for the finals, 7 were from Portland and 5 from Eugene, and the top four finishers were:

1. Noah Davis ($425)
2. W. Clark Davis ($195) (Eugene)
3. Danny Backglass ($140)
4. Chris Rhodes ($120)

I'll put the rest up when I get it organized.

Thanks to everyone from Portland who came down. I hope more of you can make it to the next tournament we hold.

Many thanks to Hayden, Gavin, Scotty and the others who helped run the event. It ran very smoothly. Probably the most unique open bank of tournament machines I've played so far (HUO Capt Fantastic? Banzai Run? Flash Gordon with no outlane posts!) and they all held up throughout the entire day. I actually really dug the lack of DMD's. When something small went wrong, it was fixed usually within minutes. The only thing that *seemed* a little detrimental to the event was the fact that the massive street fair/party was happening the whole time right outside. Seemed like crowd issues would pull people away from running the tournament from time to time, and I can imagine that only added chaos/stress to any already stressful day. Maybe enough new players participated, because they were already at the event that it was worth it . . . and maybe I was just to hot.

The Eugene players definitely brought some competition. The extremely aggro drunk ones also lent a certain flavor ;) And yes I'll admit it, they out-drank/loudmouthed CFF without question. Videomodes voice was pretty low/gravelly by the end of the night though.

Nate had some concerns about the players who qualified for the novice playoff having higher scores knocking down open players scores. I sorta understand, but at the same time, the *only* thing benefiting them as novice was the ability to playoff for the zizzle machine. If there was no novice/zizzle machine, those players *probably* still would have played and put up the same scores . . . netting the same results.

We all had a blast - you guys should pat yourselves on the shoulder. We'll be there for the next big one - block party or no!

Don't forget that I had Isabella with me all day. That did not help my stress level either.

Also, she was not happy that I was giving away our Zizzle as a prize. She was still crying about it some today.

I was being a sore loser/baby/drunk. All apologies if I was a pain in the ass Hayden. I had a blast at the tournament and will definitely attend future tourneys.

Opto"you can also check the pinball rankings website for upcoming events too ". Yeah, I go on there and look from time to time, but never have my calendar with me so I automatically assume all the Portland/Oregon dates are the Tuesday tourneys. No more assuming for me.
