Duckett's Pub

Postby Qdub on Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:24 am

Duckett's pub is a newly reopened spot on the NW corner of Albina and Killingsworth in North Portland. Not far from Florida Room. They have Simpson's (Stern), Indiana Jones (Stern) and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Their grand opening will be June 5th so from now until then feel free to clue the owners in on what you'd like to see in there. Solid selection of beer, spirits, and pub fare. Their back patio is gonna be hopping this summer too. Check it out.

Can I play Creature now, I don't drink anyway. I just want to make love to a sweet Creature (machine) in Deathsaves Creature shirt.

Sorry, I should clarify. They ARE open right now, my bad. But they are doing a celebration/grand opening/kickoff on June 5th. Creature is live now.

To add to dropshot's request, do you know the exact address? The place isn't on google maps yet, but I'd like to get it added to the pinball map if possible.

ooh, sweet, open at 1.

went there last night, creature's a motherfucker in some ways, and a sweetie in others. didn't play the other two games.

Q-dub, do you know that there are no circus voltaires anywhere in town, and we really need one? a CV would look really nice next to that CFTBL.

Also, this place is cash only. At least for now. And the bartender said they're planning to replace simpsons with something, possibly sopranos.

And on Sunday they closed at 2:30am.

sopranos...

how about a nice banzai run? what about rollergames? that game's sweet. what about a space shuttle? or firepower? something unusual. robocop. nightmare on elm street. frankenstein. street fighter II. are there any ninja-themed games?

Thanks for the input guys. I'll look into a Circus Voltaire. I don't know much about them. I've heard its a lot of fun. We shall see. I'd love to have all those classic games stacked up next to eachother too but they're basically collector's items now... $$$

Circus V is too hard to maintain on location from what I hear.

no kidding. i haven't played a 100% functional CV on location since they were fairly new. ringmaster likes to break a lot, as do the boom balloons. would be a fun home machine though, particularly with the home roms.

what the fuck is wrong with you guys? we get an operator willing to "look into" a CV and you asses chime in with how hard to maintain they are? gawd...

i've only played 3 of them. one was a private machine working perfectly, one was on location in san francisco and was fully working but the DMD was on its way out and it needed to be cleaned up, and the other's the one that was at sinnott's for a while and was totally fine except both the flippers were weak-- probably just needed the switches cleaned and the little doo-dads squashed up a bit or whatever that trick is.

anyway, you could say the same of tons of machines that are notoriously finnicky-- it certainly can't be worse that ST:TNG, and there are lots of usually reliable games that reliably have some problems until maybe a mod is made or something to reduce the repeated breakage.

anyway, so far the games seem to be holding up pretty nicely at ol' duckett's, and it's not a location that seems like it's going to get insane amounts of play, so it might be a good spot for something slightly more fragile. i guess it all depends on how badly Q-dub wants my life savings in quarters deposited into that pin.

The Creature game is very frustrating. once leveled a bit better, it gave up some juice. I liked it. I would play a CV if it worked, but if it's always down ... I don't want to play a game I can't GC. I'm skeptical of the billion plus GC on the new Indy. The rest of the scores are sub 200 million. That game is stupid anyway.
