not a movie, but my relatives are watching post-christmas tv and have settled on "clean house," a home makeover show on the style network. the packrat lady whose house they are cleaning up has a super dusty, broken dr. who, and she refuses to get rid of it when her queeny home stylists want to put it in a yard sale. thrilling drama! then my cousin made me explain to everyone how i can be world ranked at pinball. can i come back to portland yet?

In Elton John's "Pinball Wizard" section of Tommy, Tommy is playing a Buckaroo machine. The IPDB has this mislabeled as the machine that Elton John is playing... Buckaroo, a Gottlieb machine, makes the Elton John vs. Tommy competition for the title of "Bally table king" seem a bit silly. I guess singing "Gottlieb" just doesn't flow as well...

an episode of law & order: svu (i don't have the attention span to watch movies, so i think tv shows count) features sharkey's shootout. apparently a kid was playing the game, went to the bathroom, and got his throat slit by some guy who thought the machine was controlling the kid's mind.

There's a show on the G4 Channel called "Human Wrecking Balls. It stars the Pumphrey brothers, two roid addicts who travel to various places (fast food restaurants, auto dealerships, etc) and wreck things.

One of the episodes recently was called "Arcade Armageddon." They walked into what appeared to be a phony classic arcade and broke everything... including four pinball machines!

Granted, they were 80's Gottlieb games, but still.
