I have a system 6 board in my Flash. It booted in audit mode and the first number was a 0, which Clay's guide says mean I have the yellow flipper ROMs. Then the guide goes on to say that is okay so long as as you also have the yellow game ROM too.
He says the game ROM is located at IC14. On my board, IC14 is not used. The three sockets in the upper row are used (IC21, IC22, IC26). If you look at the image here: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=871&picno=19182 the game ROM is in IC14 and there are no ROMs in IC21, IC22 or IC26.
If you buy a new ROM nowadays, is this just the way it works? Does this mean the ROMs in my machine are original and that it took three chips to contain the game ROM.
I repaired the board and the game boots so no of this is causing me a problem. I'm just curious why there's a difference between what I've read and what I see on my machine.
