I just replaced some header pins on my Flash Gordon driver board. After soldering the new pins in place, everything looked good . . . but it wasn't. A tiny, tiny bit of solder was making contact between a 5V pad and a 12V pad. This sent 12 volts through the 5V chain to the MPU blowing several chips . . . how many . . . I don't know yet.

If I had buzzed out the pads I would have discovered the short and saved myself a hell of a lot of work.
